Kalaset vegetarian restaurant – Copenhagen

When you’ve only got 72 hours in a city a second if not third breakfast is mandatory. Our choice was a quaint and quirky Swedish vegetarian restaurant called Kalaset. It hadn’t been on our list but when we finished up in Souls we were craving a little something extra and a google of “vegan near me” presented this charming nook.

Brunch is served 9-12 midweek and 9 – 14.30 at the weekends. We decided upon the Speltmor dish to share as we had just licked the pancake plate clean in Souls a few minutes prior. It contained tofu scramble with walnuts, celeriac steak, falafel, green hummus, carrot bacon, roasted potatoes, leaves, beetroot tapenade, smoothie shot and fruit. A seriously generous plate that is perfect for two in my opinion.

Kalaset is a 2 minute walk from the vegan bakery and Souls restaurant and a 5 min walk from the Torverhallen food market (not vegan but lots of options) which is awash with stands full of coffees, wines, smørrebrød, empanadas the list goes on. Conceivably you could just mill around this area for a few hours and eat to your vegan hearts content. Kalaset have lunch and dinner offerings also and while not a vegan restaurant they do vegan well and the menu contains a generous sprinkling of v smoothies, burgers and curries.
